Rashed formed his

school and society, he became exposed to a variety of music, Western and
Egyptian. He mastered singing in French and English in addition to being
the bass guitar player in the band. In the early seventies,
Egypt experienced an explosion of western bands performing all kinds of
music, Rock and Roll, Hard Rock, Country, Soul as well as European Dance
Music. Rashed has been part of a multitude of bands performing in Alexandria
until 1980. He abandoned the bass guitar to concentrate on singing, specializing
in ballads and adult contemporary styles. He became one of the best known
singers to perform in several languages.
|
| In 1981, he released
his first album (Kalam Fil Hob) where he experimented with incorporating
Arabic lyrics to his own western compositions in order to add a western
twist to Egyptian pop songs. He was one of the pioneers of this trend
that evolved to occupy a major share of the modern Egyptian song scene.
